Sir,
The humble petition of Robert Gardner McEwen, Seni or
Sanitary Inspector, Hongkong
Respectfully Sheweth.
1. That your petitioner joined the Hongkong Civil Service on
November 15th, 1890, being appointed a police constable on
that date, and arrived in the Colony on December 28th, 1890.
Your peti ti oner will therefore have completed 34 years service
in November of thes year.
2. That your petitioner reached the age of 55 years on the 13th
May last, having been born on the 13th May 1869.
3. That your petitioner was transferred to the Sanitary Department
on March 1st 1895, and having passed through the various grades
became acting Senior Sanitary Inspector on January 1st, 1923
and was confirmed in the post of Senior Sanitary Inspector on
January 1st of this year with effect from 1st January 1923.
4. That your petitioner has not during his period of service
received notice of any adverse report and has at all times
performed his duties to the best of his ability and has an
absolutely clean record.

That your petitioner has been notified that he will be retired
from the service in August of this year and that his passage
has been booked via Suez on August 23rd.
6. That your petitioner's home is in Perthshire, Scotland, and
that after a period of 34 years service in a Tropical climate
it will be detrimental to his health to arrive in Scotland at
the commencement of the winter season, and your peti ti oner has
been so advised by two medical practitioners whose certificates are attached to this petition. Your petitioner most respectfully
